Publishers

Run a title in your own community.

Albion Life is the first Emerxing title. The model is built to be repeated by people who already know their neighbourhood.

The proposition

You know the community. We bring the rest.

A community magazine fails for boring reasons: no system for selling, no standard for what gets printed, no way to keep the books straight, and one person doing all of it until they stop.

Emerxing exists to remove those reasons. You bring the local knowledge, the relationships and the willingness to knock on doors. We bring the format, the design system, the editorial standard, the advertising agreement, the content system and the print and distribution arrangements.

What you get

A publishing business, not a franchise brochure.

The format

Design system, departments, editorial standard and the rules about what may be printed.

The commercial side

Rate card, advertising agreement, category exclusivity rules and the sales conversation that goes with them.

The systems

The content system, the website, lead capture and the reporting — the same ones we use.

Print and distribution

Arrangements already negotiated, so your first issue is not your first negotiation.

Someone to ask

A publisher who has done it, on the end of a phone.

What we ask

What makes a publisher work.

These are conditions of taking part, recorded in the publisher agreement.

You

Local, and prepared to be seen

The single biggest predictor of a title that lasts

  • You live in, or genuinely know, the community
  • You are willing to sell face to face
  • You can commit to a monthly deadline
  • You will hold the editorial line when it is inconvenient
Business

The formalities

Recorded on the agreement

  • A registered business and a municipal licence
  • Valid insurance
  • A bank account in the business name
  • Working capital for the first issue

We would rather say no early than launch a title that stops after three issues. A magazine that disappears damages the businesses that backed it.

  4. Onboarding

Systems, format, rate card, print and distribution set up with you.
